Secret Snowflake Holiday Book Drive 2023

Our Secret Snowflake book drive has now ended for 2023.  Thanks so much to everyone who donated -- books are on their way to kids now for the holidays!

Greenlight is honored to partner once again with NYC Service, a division of the Mayor's office - and with YOU, our customers - to provide new books to kids this holiday season! As part of the Secret Snowflake initiative, we've selected special books in different age ranges to be donated to the city's most vulnerable kids, and we're discounting them 30% for the book drive. You can purchase books on our website, and we'll take care of processing and shipping. It's a great way to give back to your city this holiday! The book drive runs through November 1 - November 30, so we can get books to city agencies in time to get them wrapped up and distributed for the holidays.

This year, Greenlight is especially excited that donated books will be distributed to New York's Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers (HERRCs) which are serving recently arrived asylum-seeking families. We have selected titles in age groups and categories that have specifically been requested by the HERRCs as the most needed for the kids they serve.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our customers, we were able to deliver over 700 books to the Mayor's office to be distributed to New York City kids -- and we hope to donate even more this year.  Thank you for your generosity in putting books in the hands of the kids who need them most this holiday season!

Ordering Instructions: To participate, just select books from the list below to purchase (at a 30% off discount!) for donation and pay with a credit card at checkout.  That's it -- we'll take it from there!  Things to note:

  • Donation orders must be completed by midnight on November 30
  • You will not be asked for pickup/shipping information on books for donation, and you will not receive a physical copy of the book; books will be sent directly to the recipients in coordination with NYC Service.
  • If the book you selected goes out of stock with the publisher, we may substitute a comparable book at the same price point.
  • Secret Snowflake items do not count toward your order total for free shipping.
