Other School Partner Programs at Greenlight

Due to COVID-19, Greenlight is currently only able to offer virtual book fair options that include limited fundraising incentives for online shopping for in-store pickup or direct-to-home shipping. Please reach out to schoolpartnerships@greenlightbookstore.com for more information. Thank you!

In addition to book fairs and school author visits, Greenlight Bookstore has additional partnership options for schools of all grades in nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods, and other New York City schools on a case-by-case basis. Additional School Partnership Programs FAQ

Q. Is there a discount for educators at Greenlight?

A. Yes! We offer all educators a 10% discount every day. All you need to do is mention the discount at the register and show a valid school ID or other proof of educator status.

Q. Does Greenlight host any special events for educators?

A. Yes, we’re proud to host two dedicated Educator Nights in our stores each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These nights are a chance for educators to learn more about our school programs, get an extra discount and some freebies from us, and hear from our author and publishing partners about exciting books relevant to educators’ work. They’re also a great opportunity to mingle with other educators, enjoy a glass of wine, and celebrate all the hard work you do for our city’s students.

Q. Does Greenlight have an educator mailing list?

A. Yes, you can sign up for our educator mailing list to be notified about our Educator Nights and other events of special interest to educators. To join, click on the “Join our mailing list” button at the top right of our home page and then check the box for the Educators at Greenlight mailing list.

Q. Does Greenlight host class visits to the store?

A. Yes, we’re happy to organize class visits upon request, during which students can get a tour of our store and talk with our knowledgeable booksellers.

Q. Does Greenlight offer bulk discounts for large school orders?

A. We can often provide discounts for large quantities of single titles. Discounts vary by order quantity and publisher policies, so please contact us for a quote. We offer a variety of billing options for schools and can accept purchase orders on a case-by- case basis. We require that schools submit their tax exemption information to us for bulk orders and we can keep that information on file if the school wishes. Greenlight is not currently a Department of Education vendor.

Q. Can schools organize fundraisers or book drives through Greenlight?

A. Yes, we offer both in-store fundraisers and online book drives to help schools expand reading opportunities for their students. For in-store fundraisers, Greenlight can set aside a day or weekend as a fundraising period for your school. Shoppers who mention the school’s name while checking out at Greenlight (in the store or on our website) during the fundraising period will have 20% of their purchase donated back to the school. For online book drives, Greenlight can create a page on our website featuring the school’s desired books. We work with schools to publicize the school’s book drive to parents and other supporters, who can purchase books online during the drive period; purchased books are then delivered to the school free of charge. Our in-school book fairs are also a great way to raise funds for your school while offering students an exciting event; see our book fair page for more information.

Q. Our school has a required reading list for students. Can Greenlight help students acquire those books?

A. Yes, schools or individual teachers can register their summer reading lists or other required reading lists, and Greenlight can make sure to have books on the list available. We can also post the lists on our website. Students get a 10% discount at Greenlight, so parents can affordably fill their kids’ reading lists in one stop (or buy online) while supporting a local business.
