Since 1985, ZYZZYVA has been publishing an amazing array of the country’s (and world’s) best writers—from Haruki Murakami and Lucia Berlin to Sherman Alexie and Amy Tan. In celebration of its Winter issue, the San Francisco journal returns to New York City, holding its first ever event in Brooklyn, featuring recent, past, and soon-to-be contributors to the journal, and maybe a surprise guest or two. The lineup includes Glen David Gold (Carter Beats the Devil, Sunnyside) reading from his forthcoming memoir; reporter and former Nation Books editor Mar Cólon-Margolies; and emerging writers Brad Wetherell, Mallory Imler Powell, and Andrew Mangan (who is also a bookseller at Greenlight), in an evening emceed by Managing Editor Oscar Villalon.
