Zachary Pace presents I Sing to Use the Waiting: A Collection of Essays About the Women Singers Who've Made Me Who I Am
In conversation with Lynn Melnick

Structured like a mixtape, Zachary's Pace's debut I Sing to Use the Waiting reflects on the women singers -- from Cat Power to Madonna, Kim Gordon to Rihanna -- who shaped them as a young person coming-of-age in rural New York, first discovering their own queer voice. Praised by luminaries including Eileen Myles, Wayne Koestenbaum, and Hilton Als, Pace's debut is a deeply personal rumination on how queer stories are abundant yet often suppressed, and how music may act as a comforting balm carrying us through difficult periods and decisions. Pace discusses their new book with Lynn Melnick (author of I've Had to Think Up a Way to Survive: On Trauma, Persistence, and Dolly Parton) at this evening's celebration of music.
