Translated by Lisa Dillman, the stories in Yuri Herrera’s new collection are populated by characters who inhabit imagined futures that reveal the strangeness and instability of the present. The consistent themes of Herrera’s writing—the mutability of borders, the legacy of colonial violence, and a deep love of storytelling—are explored with powerful originality. With Herrera in conversation with celebrated author Catherine Lacey (The Biography of X), we present an evening of conversation on genre-defying craft and boundless imagination.
