Greenlight is delighted to once again welcome the local authors and contributors to Voices of Lefferts: The Flatbush-PLG Community Writing Journal into our Flatbush store for a celebratory evening. This issue, like issue #9, was created in 2022 when we were still at the height of the pandemic, just beginning to emerge into the new reality that allows us to do a book launch in person. Essays in issue #10 feature an annual block party; the city's underground transportation--dollar vans; a story of growing up in Crown Heights; a search for collard greens; a series of walks in the heart of Prospect Park; and a heartrending reflection on plants, love, and loss. Our featured artist is the remarkable Otto Neals. Also featured are oral history excerpts from our COVID-19, Flatbush Eats, and Voices of Lefferts collections. Project Director Deborah Mutnick hosts a program of readings and discussion with these neighborhood authors, in an evening celebrating the voices, lives, and stories of our neighborhood - we can't wait to see you there.
