Book Launch: Between the Lines: Stories from the Underground Glory Edim, Uli Beutter Cohen & Lupita Aquino in conversation

For the better part of a decade, Uli Beutter Cohen rode the subway through New York City’s underground to observe society through the lens of our most creative thinkers: the readers of books. Greenlight welcomes the acclaimed creator of Subway Book Review to our (virtual) stage to launch her new book Between the Lines, a timely collection of beloved and never-before-published stories that reflect who we are and where we are going in the form of over 170 interviews: meet Qween Jean, who reads Homegoing and finds strength in the Black matriarchy; Nicholas, who reads Herman Hesse and thinks about the next 10,000 years; Leta, who reads Madeline Gins and changes her life with color theory; and Kareem, who wants to learn How to Do Nothing with Jenny Odell. You’ll also bump into iconic New Yorkers like Jamel Shabazz and Lynn Yaeger, and authors like Roxane Gay and Jia Tolentino. Accompanied by original photography and countless intriguing book recommendations, Between the Lines celebrates the ways stories invite us into each other’s lives. Beutter Cohen is joined by Lupita Aquino (Lupita Reads) and Glory Edim (Well-Read Black Girl) for a conversation on Between the Lines, navigating change, and building sustainable communities.
