Tracy K. Smith presents There’s a Revolution Outside, My Love: Letters from a Crisis
With contributors Gregory Pardlo and Major Jackson
Moderated by Julie Scelfo
Greenlight is tremendously excited to host Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Tracy K. Smith for the anthology There’s a Revolution Outside, My Love, edited by Smith and John Freeman. In the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests and the Covid-19 pandemic, the soaring and essential pieces presented in this anthology give voice to the cleavages that have shaken and uprooted American lives in an era of unthinkable grief. Composed of searing letters, essays, poems, reflections, and screeds, There’s a Revolution Outside, My Love highlights the work of some of our most powerful and treasured writers, and offers solace in a time of swirling protest, change, and violence—reminding us of the human scale of the upheaval, and providing hope for a kinder future. This event also features anthology contributors Gregory Pardlo, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the poetry collection Digest, and Major Jackson, acclaimed author of five books of poetry including The Absurd Man. The conversation will be moderated by Julie Scelfo, author of The Women Who Made New York.
