Tanwi Nandini Islam presents Bright Lines In conversation with Mira Jacob

Tanwi Nandini Islam is a writer, multimedia artist, and founder of Hi Wildflower Botanica, a handcrafted natural perfume and skincare line based in Brooklyn. Her magnetic debut novel Bright Lines tells the powerful story of one family and three young women coming of age in Brooklyn and Bangladesh, and is inspired in part by Tanwi’s research on the Bangladesh Liberation War and her trips to Bangladesh to visit the village where her parents grew up. The book has been highly praised by fellow writers, including Kiese Laymon, who writes, “Bright Lines is the most daring, emotionally dense work I’ve ever read by a debut novelist. I can’t remember the last time a novel kept me breathless, wandering and reconsidering the decisions of my own life." Bright Lines is brilliant and absolutely soulful.” Islam discusses her novel with Mira Jacob, author of the critically acclaimed novel The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing.

Note: Kiese Laymon is unfortunately unable to take part in this event.
