Author/Illustrator Story Time: Thyra Heder presents The Bear Report

Greenlight is delighted to welcome Brooklyn author Thyra Heder, author of Fraidyzoo, back to the bookstore for another animal adventure! In her new book The Bear Report, Heder explores the Arctic through a child’s eyes: specifically, Sophie, who does NOT want to do her assigned research report on polar bears. But when a polar bear named Olafur swoops her away to the Arctic, she soon learns all about the playful bear’s habits and habitat, from glacier mice to the northern lights. Sophie finds herself falling in love with the pristine and mesmerizing landscape, and ready to return home and take another swing at her assignment, this time with gusto. Heder’s story and her stunning illustrations honor the bravery it takes to face one’s fears with curiosity and imagination, whether it’s an incomplete homework assignment or the Arctic ice.
