Staff Story Time with Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story

One of our Greenlight booksellers shares Kevin Noble Maillard's debut picture book Fry Bread, an evocative depiction of a modern Native American family, vibrantly illustrated by Pura Belpre Award winner and Caldecott Honoree Juana Martinez-Neal. Kevin is a member of the Seminole Nation, Mekusukey band and wrote this book to highlight fry bread as a food that began as a means of survival and became a symbol of the resiliency and endurance of Native peoples in America. The book is a celebration of old and new, traditional and modern, similarity and difference that also highlights the great diversity of Native peoples. Join us  at the bookstore this Sunday for a heartwarming story time! Ages 3 to 8.
