Squawkin’ Sports
Hosted by Patrick Sauer and David J. Roth
Featuring Eric Nusbaum, author of Stealing Home: Los Angeles, the Dodgers, and the Lives Caught in Between

Created and hosted by writers Patrick Sauer and David J. Roth, Squawkin’ Sports is a new series featuring book chats with grown-up authors writing about grown-ups playing kiddie games. For this installment, Sauer and Roth chat with sports, history, and culture writer Eric Nusbaum on his new book Stealing Home. Dodger Stadium is an American icon. But the story of how it came to be goes far beyond baseball. Before Dodger Stadium could be built, the city would have to face down the Mexican American families displaced by the project—including one, the Aréchigas, who refused to yield their home. The ensuing confrontation captivated the nation—and the divisive outcome still echoes through Los Angeles today.
