Award-winning, critically-acclaimed author Samantha Hunt (The Dark Dark) presents The Seas– her first book, for which she won the National Book Foundation award -- recently reissued by Tin House Books and with a new introduction by Maggie Nelson. In a coastal fishing town a young misfit – whose father, a sailor, walked into the ocean eleven years earlier -- believes she is a mermaid. True to myth, she finds herself in hard love with a land-bound man, an Iraq War veteran thirteen years her senior. The mesmerizing, fevered coming-of-age tale – between reality and fairy tale, hope and delusion -- that follows will land her in jail. In her introduction, Maggie Nelson calls The Seas “radiant with magic, some of it dangerous… [I] was scalded by its beauty.” Hunt presents The Seas at Greenlight, followed by a wine reception.
