Book Launch: Rachel Aviv presents Strangers to Ourselves: Unsettled Minds and the Stories That Make Us
In conversation with Gideon Lewis-Kraus

In The New Yorker staff writer Rachel Aviv's much-anticipated debut, she raises fundamental questions about how we understand ourselves in periods of crisis and distress. Strangers to Ourselves draws on deep, original reporting as well as unpublished journals and memoirs to explore the stories of people who have come up against the limits of psychiatric explanations for who they are. Animated by a profound sense of empathy, Aviv's book asks how the stories we tell about mental disorders shape their course in our lives. Greenlight is honored to welcome Aviv, in conversation with Gideon Lewis-Kraus, to our Fort Greene events stage and celebrate the launch of Strangers to Ourselves.
