Greenlight is proud to partner with the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association (PLGNA) and other organizations in presenting the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event for neighborhood families. Entirely run by volunteers and begun in 2011, the annual gathering celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and fosters literacy and awareness of the Civil Rights Movement among youth and their families in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The program includes performances by vocal groups, youth dancers, and authors, including Brooklyn children’s authors Selina Alko and Sean Qualls, who present their book Two Friends about Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony. A complimentary lunch is provided, and children’s craft activities led by local artists are offered throughout the day. Details and schedule to come; visit PLGNA’s website or email PLGNAnyc@gmail.com for more information.
