Pamela Erens presents Eleven Hours
In conversation with Elisa Albert
Pamela Erens, author of the acclaimed novel The Virgins, offers a visceral portrait of childbirth with her third novel Eleven Hours, named a Most Anticipated Book for 2016 by The Millions and Flavorwire. In the story of two soon-to-be mothers – a hospital patient and a pregnant nurse – who are forced to reckon with their pasts and re-create their futures in the midst of a difficult labor, Erens creates a vivid rendering of the way we approach motherhood – with fear and joy, anguish and awe. Erens talks about her work and the surrounding issues with fellow author Elisa Albert, author of the novel After Birth (a Greenlight First Editions Club selection).
