Nonfiction Book Group discusses Moonwalking with Einstein
Led by Greenlight bookseller Geo, our nonfiction book group reads and discusses the most fascinating topics in nonfiction, both classic and contemporary, with seasonal themes covering a variety of genres. This season's theme is Memories. For January, the group discusses Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer, which charts an amazing journey of the mind while revolutionizing our concept of memory. The book recounts Foer's yearlong quest to improve his memory under the tutelage of top "mental athletes." He draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of remembering, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human memory. From the United States Memory Championship to deep within the author's own mind, this is an electrifying work of journalism that reminds us that, in some sense, we are the sum of our memories.
Greenlight book group meetings take place at Greene Grape Annex, across the street from the bookstore at 753 Fulton Street. Wine and snacks are provided for attendees. Current book group picks are always 15% off at Greenlight, in the store or online.
