Book Launch: Morgan Jerkins presents This Will Be My Undoing: Living at the Intersection of Black, Female, and Feminist in (White) America
In conversation with Ashley C. Ford
Wine reception to follow
Morgan Jerkins, whose fierce and incisive writing on feminism, racism, and pop culture has amassed a devoted following, launches her highly-anticipated debut collection of essays at Greenlight. This Will Be My Undoing takes on one of the most provocative contemporary topics: What does it mean to "be" – to live as, to exist as – a black woman today? In these linked essays, Jerkins cover topics ranging from Rachel Dolezal to Sailor Moon; the stigma of therapy, the paradox of black female sexuality, and disability in the context of the Black Girl Magic movement. Becoming both narrator and subject, Jerkins exposes the social, cultural, and historical story of black female oppression that influences the black community as well as the white, male-dominated world at large. Jerkins launches her debut book in conversation with writer and editor Ashley C. Ford, followed by a signing, Q&A, and wine reception.
