Book launch: Mary Miller presents Always Happy Hour
In conversation with Hellen Ellis Wine reception to follow

Brazen and biting, Always Happy Hour is Mary Miller’s richly satisfying follow up to her acclaimed first novel The Last Days of California. Miller’s short stories are populated by young women on the edge, facing daunting decisions while not always making the right choices. They aren’t ashamed to drink and have sex, don’t pretend to like work and only think about money when absolutely forced to by an empty fridge. They occupy a Southern terrain of gas stations, public pools and dive bars that evoke the rich, saturated colors of a William Eggleston photo. Miller discusses her work with Helen Ellis, author of the darkly comic story collection American Housewife, followed by a wine reception to celebrate the launch of Always Happy Hour.
