Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Storytelling and Music Event
Hosted by the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association
Featuring Jacqueline Woodson and other artists to be announced

Begun in 2011 and entirely run by volunteers, including local high school students and college students from Medgar Evers College and LIU Brooklyn, this annual gathering celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and fosters literacy and awareness of the Civil Rights Movement among youth and their families in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. This year's event features a presentation by award-winning Brooklyn author Jacqueline Woodson, who reads from her book Show Way, a story of the Underground Railroad, as well as her new picture book The Day You Begin. The day also includes music performances and activities and crafts for children, along with a complimentary lunch at 12 noon. All performances and activities are free and open to the public.

Doors open at 10:45 AM. RSVP on Facebook here
