Book Launch: Lisa Locascio presents Open Me
In conversation with Darcey Steinke
Wine reception to follow
Debut author Lisa Locascio presents Open Me, named as one the most hotly anticipated books of the season by Elle, The Village Voice, Library Journal and more and with praise by Viet Thanh Nguyen, Aimee Bender, and T.C. Boyle. Open Me is a politically and erotically-charged debut that follows a young American woman’s transformative journey during one pivotal summer abroad in Copenhagen. There, her world narrows and expands as she experiences fantasy, ritual, and the pleasures of her body, caught between relationships with her Danish guide and a Muslim refugee from the Bosnian war. A coming-of-age novel like no other, Open Me is a daringly original and darkly compelling portrait of a young woman discovering her power, her sex, and her voice; and a propulsive exploration of estrangement and what it means to belong. Locascio presents her debut novel in conversation with Darcey Steinke, author of Suicide Blonde and Sister Golden Hair. A wine reception follows to celebrate the book’s launch.
