Lindsey Palmer presents Pretty In Ink
In conversation with magazine editor Jeannie Kim
Greenlight neighbor Lindsey Palmer has worked as a professional writer and editor in the magazine industry for seven years, including stints at Redbook, Glamour and Self. Now she brings her experiences to her debut novel Pretty in Ink, a sharp satire of the cutthroat, high-profile world of women’s magazines set in the era of its decline, as new media cannibalizes print and even the biggest titles are at risk of folding. Set in the offices of the fictional Hers magazine, where a new Editor in Chief plans to stuff its pages with more celebs, scandal, and smut (and cut the staff), the novel follows the magazine’s staffers as they battle for their jobs, and all their fears and anxieties, their hopes and vulnerabilities play out on the stage of the Hers workplace. Lindsey discusses her book with Jeannie Kim, Executive Deputy Editor at Health magazine, who has also been an editor at Redbook and other magazines and authored several books for teens and tweens.
