Two acclaimed authors-turned-publishers discuss their latest children’s books, the artists and writers they are championing through their respective publishing lines, and the current state of children’s book publishing. Kwame Alexander's New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal-winning The Crossover is vividly brought to life as a graphic novel with stunning illustrations by star talent Dawud Anyabwile. In spring 2019, Kwame Alexander launched Versify, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers with the mission to “change the world, one word at a time,” publishing books that celebrate the lives and reflect the possibilities of all children. Based on Will Smith’s The Fresh Prince, Denene Millner’s The Fresh Princess, illustrated by Gladys Jose, introduces Destiny—a cool, energetic, and strong-willed young girl who approaches every day with her own signature style.
