Kate Russo presents Super Host
In conversation with Claire Lombardo
Artist Kate Russo returns to Greenlight’s stage (virtually) for a conversation on her debut novel, Super Host! When his wife leaves him and his gallery decides to stop selling his work, Bennett Driscoll is forced to move into his artist's studio in the back garden and rent out his house on the popular vacation rental site, AirBed. As he paints, and the finished canvases stack up in a spare room, he obsessively grooms his listing to achieve coveted “Super Host” status on the site. Then three separate guests check in to his house and unwittingly unlock parts of himself he’s forgotten for so long. As the stories of these three women reveal themselves in turn, Bennett must decide whether to confront his past failings as a father, husband, and artist and reclaim what’s most important to him. With a light wit and razor-sharp insight, Super Host is a lovingly crafted meditation on loneliness and connection that acknowledges the courage it takes to start over at middle age, to reclaim one’s self and one’s dreams, and to begin a new life with purpose. Claire Lombardo, author of The Most Fun We Ever Had, joins Russo in conversation at this virtual book talk, with an audience Q&A to follow!
