International Writers Series: Travels through Time
For our International Writers series, join Igiaba Scego, author of The Color Line (Other Press), and Kirmen Uribe, author of Bilbao—New York—Bilbao (Coffee House Press), as they discuss their new novels with Anderson Tepper.
How do we experience the past—how do we travel through time and memory—in both countries and families? What are the unifying threads that link generations? In Igiabo Scego’s The Color Line, a Somali-Italian curator re-discovers the story of a nineteenth century African-American artist in Rome, which connects her further with the fate of contemporary migrants. While Basque writer Kirmen Uribe’s Bilbao—New York—Bilbao takes off on a thrilling voyage across the sea and through the murky realms of family lore to explore lost meanings in far-off fishing villages, museums, and even airports.
