Award-winning novelist and journalist Helen Benedict has written widely about the experiences of women in war, both on and off the battlefield. Benedict’s compassion and insight are on full display in her latest novel, Wolf Season, which explores the wounds inflicted on soldiers, refugees, and their families. After a hurricane devastates a small town in upstate New York, the lives of three women – an Iraq War veteran, a widowed doctor and refugee, and a Marine wife -- and their young children are irrevocably changed. As they struggle to maintain their humanity and find hope, their war-torn lives collide in a way that will affect their entire community. Benedict presents her work in conversation with Matt Gallagher, author of Youngblood and the Iraq memoir Kaboom, and a former U.S. Army captain.
