Author Geoff Dyer discusses Otherwise Known as the Human Condition with Paris Review editor Lorin Stein
Geoff Dyer is the author of four novels and five genre-defying books, including But Beautiful; Out of Sheer Rage, which was a National Book Critics Circle finalist; and most recently Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi. His newest book, Otherwise Known as the Human Condition, collects over two decades of essays, reviews, and misadventures, from Algeria to Brixton, sculpture to saxophone, and haute couture to sex in hotels. Dyer uses both the reflective work of the critic and the novelist’s commitment to lived experience as mutually illuminating ways to sharpen our perceptions; he discusses his work tonight with Lorin Stein, editor of The Paris Review.
