Fort Greene Park Literary Festival
Featuring Jessica Hagedorn, Tayari Jones, Earl Lovelace, & student writers
Hosted by Laurie Cumbo of MoCADA
After party at Greenlight Bookstore, 6:00 PM
Greenlight is proud to partner with the New York Writers Coalition and other sponsors to present the 8th annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival! The free outdoor reading in the park features young writers (seven to eighteen-year-olds) who have participated in a free summer-long series of creative writing workshops, reading alongside three very distinguished writers of rich cultural background: Jessica Hagedorn, Tayari Jones, and Earl Lovelace. Laurie Cumbo, director of the acclaimed Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA), will reprise her role as Master of Ceremonies for this exciting event that brings several generations of writers together to build on the literary traditions of the neighborhoods surrounding beautiful Fort Greene Park. Greenlight will have books by featured authors for sale at the park during the readings, and afterward welcomes writers, readers and fans to the bookstore for an after party with drinks and refreshments for all ages! Join us for this wonderful neighborhood and literary tradition.
