Sponsored by The Author’s Guild
Hosted by One Story founding editor Hannah Tinti
Featuring readings by award-winning debut authors Molly Antopol, Rachel Cantor, Amelia Kahaney, Celeste Ng, David James Poissant, James Scott, and Ben Stroud
Reception to follow

One Story Magazine’s annual Literary Debutante Ball is a send-up of the debutante balls of old: instead of featuring young society ladies, it honors One Story authors who have published their first books in the past year. For the second year in a row, following One Story’s benefit ball, which raises funds for this award-winning non-profit publisher, this year’s Debutantes will visit Greenlight to read from their debut books. Molly Antopol’s debut story collection The UnAmericans (W. W. Norton) is an Indie Next pick and a Greenlight First Editions Club selection; Molly was named a “5 Under 35” author by the National Book Foundation. Brooklyn author Rachel Cantor’s hilarious futuristic novel A Highly Unlikely Scenario, or a Neetsa Pizza Employee's Guide to Saving the World (Melville House) debuted at Greenlight in January. Amelia Kahaney has been featured in The Best American Nonrequired Reading; her young adult superhero novel The Brokenhearted (HarperTeen) was published in 2013. Celeste Ng is a winner of the Pushcart Prize; her novel Everything I Never Told You (Penguin Press) is forthcoming in June. David James Poissant's debut short story collection is The Heaven of Animals (Simon & Schuster), and he is at work on a forthcoming novel. James Scott is the author of the historical tragedy The Kept (Harper), an Indie Next selection. Ben Stroud’s story collection Byzantium (Graywolf) won the 2013 Story Prize Spotlight Award and the 2012 Bread Loaf Bakeless Prize. Greenlight is proud to host some of the best emerging writers currently at work in American letters for this festive occasion!
