Reception to follow

Greenlight is proud to host a night of readings and music with Write for Democracy as part of our ongoing Civic Engagement series, a program centered on hosting nonprofit groups working in social justice, community organizing, and the arts, with the goal of providing tools for involvement, creativity, and action. Write for Democracy, an alliance of writers and artists, organizes politically themed readings and other events that raise money for organizations seeking a fairer, more inclusive democracy. This evening, the group raises funds for You Can Vote, a nonprofit organization focused on training and mobilizing volunteers to educate, register, and empower all North Carolina citizens to successfully cast their ballot. The evening features readings by Ditmas Lit cofounders Sarah Bridgins (Death and Exes) and Rachel Lyon (Self Portrait with Boy), live performances from musicians Peter Rugh and Alec Betterley, and an open bar to raise money for voter engagement and education! 20% of all sales in the bookstore on the day of the event will be donated to You Can Vote, and attendees will have the option to donate directly to the organization at the event or online through Write for Democracy.
