Book Launch: Briallen Hopper presents Hard to Love: Essays and Confessions
In conversation with Leslie Jamison
Reception with refreshments to follow
Greenlight is thrilled to host Briallen Hopper for the launch of her debut book, Hard to Love, a smart and heartfelt collection of essays that honors many kinds of significant relationships-- between friends, roommates, caregivers, adult siblings-- that are often seen as secondary. Whether she's making a countercultural case for dependence by citing Joan Didion and Gwendolyn Brooks, staying up all night baking Galentine's Day cake, coping with romantic and career angst by watching Cheers, finding comfort and company at the Women's March, or searching for a sperm donor with the help of Herman Melville (Moby-Dick like you've never seen it!), Hopper writes about love and friendship with originality, wit, and a mostly open heart. Hopper will read from and discuss her book with Leslie Jamison, award-winning author of The Empathy Exams and The Recovering, followed by a reception with wine, cake, and refreshments.
