Blanche McCrary Boyd presents Tomb of the Unknown Racist
In conversation with Hannah Tinti
Guggenheim Fellow and Lambda Literary Award-winner Blanche McCrary Boyd (The Revolution of Little Girls, Terminal Velocity) presents her first novel in twenty years, picking up the story of her protagonist Ellen Burns and concluding her epic survey of political activism. Tomb of the Unknown Racist finds Ellen sober, haunted by her activist past and failed relationships in South Carolina. When news resurfaces of her brother, a celebrated novelist whom Ellen thought dead, Ellen must uproot everything to find him – but her search transforms into a descent into the dark abyss of the simmering race war in the country. A thrilling novel set in the shadow of the Oklahoma City bombing, the subculture of white supremacy, and deep state government, Tomb of the Unknown Racist marks Boyd’s vigorous return to fiction. Boyd presents her new novel in conversation with her former student, award-winning author and friend of Greenlight Hannah Tinti. A signing and Q&A follows the discussion.
