Angélique Kidjo presents Spirit Rising: My Life, My Music
In conversation with Terrence McKnight
** Tickets $20 through

Greenlight Bookstore is proud to partner with the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on the spring season of our Unbound literary series. “Africa’s premier diva” (Time magazine) and Brooklyn transplant Angélique Kidjo shares her inspiring life story and peerless talent with BAM audiences in conjunction with the release of her debut memoir, Spirit Rising. In an intimate discussion, the Grammy Award-winning artist will uncover the hardships and heroism that led to her emergence as one of the world’s “100 most inspiring women” (The Guardian). Bill Clinton writes “The only thing bigger than Angélique Kidjo’s voice is her heart. In this evocative memoir, Kidjo chronicles an inspiring life of music and activism, and raises a passionate call for freedom, dignity, and the rights of people everywhere.” Spirit Rising will be offered for sale by Greenlight Bookstore at a 20% discount at the event only; Kidjo will sign books following the talk.

Angélique Kidjo will sign and personalize copies of Spirit Rising only; no CDs or memorabilia will be signed.

The BAM Fisher building is located at 321 Ashland Place between Hanson Place and Lafayette Avenue.
