Author Andrew Blum discusses Tubes: A Journey to the Center of the Internet with Matt Weiland

Brooklyn-based Wired magazine writer Andrew Blum takes readers on a journey around the world to understand what everyone uses but few understand: the internet. From the room in L.A. where the Internet began, to the coast of Portugal as a new transatlantic undersea cable that connects West Africa and Europe is laid down, to the the monumental data centers that Google and Facebook have built in the wilds of Oregon, Blum chronicles the dramatic story of the Internet’s development and explains how it all works. Blum will discuss the intricacies of the internet and his own writer's journey with W. W. Norton editor (and Fort Greene neighbor) Matt Weiland, who was Blum's editor for Tubes during his time at HarperCollins.
