Book Launch: Adrienne Celt presents Invitation to a Bonfire
In conversation with Rachel Fershleiser
Wine reception to follow
Adrienne Celt, winner of the PEN Southwest Book Award, presents her incendiary and provocative new novel Invitation to a Bonfire – the story of a dangerous love triangle, inspired by the infamous marriage of Véra and Vladimir Nabokov, with a spellbinding psychological thriller at its core. Invitation to a Bonfire follows a young refugee from the Soviet Union who finds herself in the alien landscape of an elite American boarding school – and the brilliant Russian writer and his enigmatic wife who set fire to her life. Grappling with class distinctions, national allegiance, and ethical fidelity – not to mention the powerful magnetism of sex – Invitation to a Bonfire investigates how one's identity is formed, irrevocably, through a series of momentary decisions, including how to survive, who to love, and whether to pay the complicated price of happiness. Celt launches her latest novel at Greenlight in conversation with Rachel Fershleiser, with a wine reception to follow.
