92nd Street Y Book Club: Reading American Stories

Live Online via 92nd Street Y:

Reading American Stories with Greenlight Bookstore
Co-hosted by 92Y

Join the co-owners of Brooklyn’s Greenlight Bookstore on a virtual literary tour of the United States — in all diversity, unexpectedness, squalor, and grandeur. Rebecca Fitting, Greenlight’s head buyer, and Jessica Stockton-Bagnulo, Greenlight’s events & marketing director, expertly curated this reading list of recent, contemporary novels that take readers to new destinations within our own nation. Prior to meeting online, everyone will read one of the thoughtfully selected books. During the online sessions, Rebecca and Jessica will lead discussions that move us into the lives of Americans far and wide, and redefine our national image. For the November session, we’ll be discussing Yaa Gyasi’s Transcendent Kingdom, which takes readers to rural Alabama where a Ghanaian immigrant family grapples with religion, science, and loss.
