Story Time at Greenlight

Greenlight offers two weekend Story Time sessions for kids and families.

Saturday Story Time (for kids ages 3 to 8)
11:00 AM Every Saturday

Saturday Story Time is geared toward kids ages 3 to 8 and their families. Authors and illustrators of picture books often visit us on Saturdays to read from their new books, and neighborhood performers sometimes read as well. There are always great stories and sometimes activities and crafts too! Check the Events Calendar for scheduled Story Time authors and events.

Sunday Story Time (for babies and toddlers)
11:00 AM Every Sunday

On Sunday mornings, a rotating cast of children's performers take turns keeping babies and toddlers under 3 years old entertained with stories, songs, and interactive play. See below for some of the talented folks who regularly host our Baby Story Time, and check our Events Calendar for an updated schedule of performances.

Jon Samson

Jon Samson, musical therapist and professional goofball, produces and performs "alternative family music" for kids of all ages. He has been featured in Time Out NY Kids and Parenting Magazine, and has been interviewed on Doctor Radio Sirius XM about his private practice in Brooklyn.  As a native South African who now lives in Brooklyn, Jon offers a world of music to his clients and fans.

 Miss Nina

Nina Stone is a recipient of a 2010 Parents’ Choice Award for her debut CD “Singing & Dancing Together.”  A Miss Nina musical experience is about  adults singing along and movin’ & groovin’ as much as the children.  She holds degrees in Dance Management and Educational Theatre, and is a registered Music Together teacher.  Originally from Delaware, Nina now lives in Brooklyn.

Vered

Vered is a singer, songwriter, music therapist and mom. Her album Good Morning My Love was named by Laurie Berkner, kid-music superstar and fellow mom, as a 2011 favorite (USA Today.) Good Morning My Love is about connecting parents and their babies. Through songs that encourage joyful interaction, accompany daily routine, and give melody and words to the emotional experience of the baby and parent, Vered's music touches on necessary elements that lead to a secure bond. Vered's workshops with parents and babies provide parents with the skills, songs, confidence and support they need in their first year with their babies.     Lauren Maples

Lauren is the founder of Bija Kids Yoga and teaches many of the weekly classes. In addition, she runs Bija's teacher trainings, workshops and retreats. A former profesional ballet dancer, Lauren completed an adult yoga certification and was intrigued by the profound change that children experienced from even the most brief yoga practice, so she started incorporating more and more yoga into her creative movement classes. Today Bija Kids in Fort Greene is a part of over 500 children's lives on a weekly basis, serves as the yoga program for 12 NYC schools and continues to grow through classes, trainings, workshops and retreats, including free Baby Yoga sessions at Greenlight.
