Story Time: Read Across America Day and Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!

The National Endowment for the Arts Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2 – the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books. Greenlight is celebrating with a special Story Time featuring two of our favorite Dr. Seuss books: The Cat in the Hat and The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, which turns 75 this year! Then we’ll all do a special craft: we’re making our own wild and silly Dr. Seuss-ian hats! Ages 3 to 8.

Baby Story Time: Vered

On Sunday mornings, children's performers keep babies and toddlers under 3 years old entertained with stories, songs, and interactive play. This Sunday, we welcome Brooklyn local singer-songwriter Vered to Baby Story Time! Vered's music is all about bonding with your little one. Her album Good Morning My Love was named a 2011 favorite by Laurie Berkner, kid-music superstar and fellow mom, in USA Today, and is also a 2012 winner of a Parents' Choice Gold Award! Through songs that encourage joyful interaction, accompany daily routine, and give melody and words to the emotional experience of the baby and parent, Vered's music lends a warm and upbeat soundtrack to the nuances of life with a baby or small child. The songs range from playful to emotive, gentle to silly, and sweet to upbeat, mirroring the experience of the new parent. Ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
