Poet Samantha Thornhill and Medusa Strings Theory pay tribute to Odetta, Queen of Folk
Brooklyn-based and internationally renowned poet, Samantha Thornhill, author of the poem that inspired the picture book, Odetta: Queen of Folk will perform her soulful ode in collaboration with musicians Valerie June on banjo and Mimi Jones on acoustic bass. This trinity of distinct, internationally traveled performance artists form Medusa Strings Theory, a soul stirring marriage of poetry and music. Painting the air with their hair and art, these Odettas of today pay tribute to this late great trailblazer in an unforgettable performance meant to educate and entertain children and adults.
