Sam Graham-Felsen presents Green
(A Greenlight First Editions Club pick)
In conversation with Wesley Morris
Sam Graham-Felsen, journalist and former blogger for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, presents his hotly-anticipated debut novel of race and privilege in America – a coming-of-age story about a life changing friendship, propelled by an exuberant, unforgettable voice. Set in 1992 Boston, Green (Greenlight’s First Editions Club pick for January) follows David Greenfield, one of the few white kids at Martin Luther King, Jr. middle school and Marlon Wellings, a loner from the public housing project, who sticks up for David in the school cafeteria. But as their friendship forms, David begins to see and understand his own privilege and the systemic racism around him. Graham-Felsen discusses his debut with Wesley Morris, journalist and critic for The New York Times.
