Lucy Knisley presents her graphic novel Relish
In conversation with New Yorker writer and cookbook author John Donohue
Talented cartoonist Lucy Knisley (author of the travel memoir French Milk) is the daughter of a chef and a gourmet who came of age in the New York foodie scene in the late 1970s, so she comes by her obsession with food honestly. In her new memoir Relish, Lucy traces key episodes in her life, framed by what she was eating at the time and lessons learned about food, cooking, and life. Each chapter is bookended with an illustrated recipe—many of them treasured family dishes, and a few of them Lucy's original inventions. Lucy discusses food, family, and the development of New York cuisine with John Donohue, New Yorker staff writer and creator of the anthology Man With A Pan: Culinary Adventures of Fathers Who Cook for Their Families.
