Author Helon Habila discusses Oil on Water with Michael Orthofer of the Complete Review
Introduction by series host Ron Hogan of Beatrice.com
Our ongoing Blogger/Author Pairings series features conversations between authors and bloggers who share territories, passions, and preoccupations. Helon Habila is a winner of the Commonwealth Prize, and has been called one of the best of the new generation of twenty-first-century African writers. His new novel Oil on Water traces the path of two journalists seeking to uncover the truth about the disappearance of a rich British oil magnate's wife along the devastated Nigerian delta, and explores the conflict between idealism and cynical disillusionment in an atmospheric journey full of danger and unintended consequences. Michael Orthofer is the founder and managing editor of the Complete Review and its Literary Saloon blog, a leading online resource for information about international literature. The conversation between Michael and Helon will be introduced by series host Ron Hogan, creator of the seminal literary blog Beatrice.com.
