Ava Chin presents Eating Wildly: Foraging for Life, Love and the Perfect Meal
Fort Greene Park foraging tour at 6:00 PM; reading to follow

Ava Chin, also known as the “urban forager,” writes a popular wild edibles column for The New York Times. When her beloved grandmother died, Chin retreated into the urban wilds of Prospect and Central Parks where she discovered rare and delicious plants, mushrooms, mulberries, even a swarm of wild honeybees, and met fellow foragers and mycologists along the way. But it’s also through finding her own food that Chin uncovered a path toward self-discovery, reconciliation with her mother, independence and, ultimately, true love. Her new book Eating Wildly is a moving memoir that will simultaneously stir your emotions and enliven your taste buds. At Greenlight, Ava will read from the book and present an interactive "virtual foraging tour” slideshow. As preparation for the book event and a sampling of the Eating Wildly experience, Ava invites interested eaters to meet her at the South Portland & DeKalb Avenue entrance of Fort Greene Park at 6 PM for a foraging tour, which will return to the bookstore by 7 PM.
