Tuesday, June 14: Fort Greene Celebrates Jennifer Egan!
Ceremonial 5:30 PM (at MoCADA; RSVP required)
After party and champagne toast 6:30 PM (at Greenlight Bookstore; open
to the public)
Fort Greene's New York City Council Member Letitia James is hosting a ceremonial
celebrating Fort Greene author Jennifer Egan for her Pulitzer
Prize-winning novel A Visit From The Goon Squad, and Greenlight is
hosting the after party!
Jennifer Egan has made outstanding contributions to the literary
world; her work and successes have been celebrated worldwide. Some of
her works include The Invisible Circus, Look at Me (nominated for the National Book Award), Emerald City and
Other Stories, and her most recent novel, A Visit From The Goon Squad,
which has been described as "an inventive investigation of growing up
and growing old in the digital age."
Jennifer is also a regular writer for the New York Times and has
received numerous awards commending her work.
The ceremonial will be held in the heart of Fort Greene's artistic
community by MoCADA, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan
Arts, in collaboration with the New York Writers Coalition and
Greenlight Bookstore. Please note: because of limited space, an RSVP
is required to attend the ceremonial. Please RSVP as soon as
possible, detailing the name of the official or representative
attending on behalf of your organization. Please send your RSVP to
Aja Worthy Davis at aworthydavis@council.nyc.gov, or contact
Councilmember James' office by phone at (212) 788-7081.
Immediately following the ceremonial, Greenlight Bookstore will host a
champagne reception, at which Jennifer Egan will sign copies of her
Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and other works, and will be toasted by
the store and our neighborhood. The bookstore event is open to all (no
RSVP required); join us for a chance to meet and celebrate a
world-class author and a Fort Greene neighbor!
