Novelist Sheri Holman reads from Witches on the Road Tonight

Greenlight is honored and delighted to host the launch event for Witches on the Road Tonight, a staff favorite and the newest novel by our Fort Greene neighbor Sheri Holman (author of The Dress Lodger and The Mammoth Cheese). Critics have compared Sheri Holman to Charles Dickens and Barbara Kingsolver for her remarkable ability to capture the lives and communities of people and places, past and present, in vivid, clairvoyant detail. In Witches on the Road Tonight, her most ambitious novel yet, she takes readers from Depression-era backwoods witchcraft, to 1970s late-night horror TV, to the terrors of the contemporary 24-hour news cycle, in a story of family myths, dark secrets and desperate longings.

It's the anti-debut debut because the poems in this book are seamless and perfectly toned and bold and will live in your brain for days/weeks/years after reading them.
