OFFSITE EVENT: Greene Grape Annex
Greenlight Fiction Book Group discusses After Claude

Led by Greenlight bookseller Alexis, this book group discusses paperback fiction on the third Tuesday of each month. For October, the group discusses Iris Owens’ novel After Claude, first published in 1973 and reissued by New York Review Books. Harriet is leaving her boyfriend Claude – even if it’s Claude who has just had her unceremoniously evicted from their Greenwich Village apartment. Girlfriends circle around to patronize and advise, but Harriet only takes offense, and it’s easy to understand why. Because mad and maddening as she may be, Harriet sees past the polite platitudes that everyone else is content to spout and live by. She is an unblinkered, unbuttoned, unrelenting, and above all bitingly funny prophetess of all that is wrong with women’s lives and hearts.

Greenlight book group meetings take place at Greene Grape Annex, across the street from the bookstore at 753 Fulton Street. Current book group picks are always 15% off at Greenlight, in the store or online.
